Green Roof Plants

Since 1998, Emory Knoll Farms, Inc. has been the nation’s leading supplier of green roof plants in North America. We have more experience than any other nursery in the United States in green roof horticulture. We continue to be active in green roof plants research and we collaborate with educational institutions and nurseries, worldwide.

We have evaluated hundreds of different plant species, and continue to research and trial new plants. Our current catalog includes over 100 of the hardiest species proven to grow and thrive successfully in the harsh environmental conditions found on a green roof or other challenging landscape conditions. These plants can be used for a wide range of applications, including stormwater management, erosion control, and biodiversity. We regularly inventory over two million plants, ready for shipping each season.

Our nursery is managed in order to grow plants in an ecologically responsible manner.  Emory Knoll Farms is dedicated to sustainability both in our environment and in our business practices. Solar power is used to power our irrigation systems. A significant portion of what was once open cropland is now dedicated to restoring indigenous trees and native meadow plants. We currently have on record over two hundred species of birds that nest on our farm or use it as a stopping place during migrations.
