Eurocell

Sustainable PVC-U products

Eurocell is the UK’s leading manufacturer, distributor and recycler of UPVC products thanks to a combination of precision extrusion capabilities, product innovation and customer service excellence. Committed to providing energy efficient, sustainable PVC-U products to support the drive towards carbon zero construction, Eurocell invested £3m in a recycling plant in Derbyshire, which is the largest and most advanced of its kind in the UK. It processes up to 12,000 end of life frames per week and instead of sending old UPVC window and door frames abroad to be scrapped, it processes them much closer to home. Resulting in a much lower carbon footprint for new products and, ultimately, for the homes they go into. Once recycled, this material is used to create a variety of new products, from cavity closers to the revolutionary Modus window system. This means it minimises the amount of waste going to landfill. 360° approach – for reduced cost and energy consumption, wherever possible, the ‘closed loop’ service is offered, re-engineering the PVC-U taken from old frames to make new windows, doors and building products. This process uses less energy and gives customers a high- performance, more efficient product. The PVC-U waste is also collected from fabricators and trade customers free of charge, for processing at Eurocell's recycling plant Merritt. The Eurocell environmental management system has achieved the widely recognised ISO 14001 accreditation and the environmental policy commits to ongoing improvements that will help to reduce carbon emissions from transport and energy use, improve energy efficiency in the business and offer more energy-efficient products to customers, as well as further reducing waste and promoting recycling in all areas of the business.
