Maya Karkour is the Managing Director of EcoConsulting which she co-founded in the UK in 2003, and established in Lebanon in 2008. EcoConsulting offers inter-related sustainability services to the construction sector, including: LEED & BREEAM certifications, energy-efficiency advice, dynamic thermal modeling, eco-building guidance. Maya oversees or has directly worked on numerous projects aiming at reducing their environmental footprint –including the eco-renovation of Casa Batroun, first project in the Middle-East to achieve the British BREEAM “Excellent” certificate in February 2014, and the Lebanese Architects Sustainability Award in 2017. She has been a keynote speaker at various sustainable design conferences; conducted numerous sustainability seminars; and written or been featured in a few articles—including her own eco-flat renovation in central Beirut. Maya holds an MSc (hons) in Environment from the London School of Economics & Political Science and is a LEED Accredited Professional, BREEAM Licensed Assessor, and Low Carbon Energy Assessor. Maya is currently the President of the Lebanon Mountain Trail Association, in charge of developing and implementing its Environmental Education programs, working with the Ministry of Education & public schools. She is also a main local mentor for the SwitchMed Green Entrepreneurship program, and a fellow of the Aspen Middle East Leadership Initiative.

Ghaith Moufarege is a Senior Sustainability Engineer at EcoConsulting since 2013 working on BREEAM and LEED assessments, as well as other eco-building services. He has led or been involved in over 40 projects in Lebanon and abroad ranging from small residential houses to large developments, comprising BREEAM Very Good and LEED Platinum assessments. In his previous position, Ghaith was managing ISO 9001 / ISO 14001 and LEED certifications for Oger International Beirut office. Ghaith holds a Master’s Degree in Environmental & Chemical Engineering from the “Ecole supérieure de chimie organique et minérale” – France – and is a LEED Accredited Professional. Ghaith was a topic expert at the Built It Green conference in 2016 and was a lecturer on various workshops with EcoConsulting, including the “Eco-Building & LEED Green Associate Training” series of seminars.

Sara Jaber is a Senior Sustainability Engineer at EcoConsulting since 2011 working on BREEAM and LEED assessments, as well as other eco-building services including thermal modelling. She has been involved in over 40 projects in Lebanon and abroad ranging from small residential houses to large developments, comprising BREEAM Excellent and LEED Gold assessments. Sara holds a MEng in Applied Energy and a BEng of Mechanical Engineering from the American University of Beirut and is a LEED Accredited Professional. Sara is also a Group Coordinator (for Indoor Environmental Quality) in the Technical Committee for the development of the standard for Building Environmental Performance with LIBNOR. Sara is a lecturer on various workshops with EcoConsulting, including the “Eco-Building & LEED Green Associate Training” series of seminars. She was also a speaker at the Built It Green Lebanon conference in 2015 to present the Criteria for Green Buildings in Lebanon.

Mohamed Mortada is a Sustainable Design Architect at EcoConsulting since 2016 working on BREEAM and LEED assessments. He has been involved in over 10 projects in Lebanon and abroad ranging from small residential houses to large developments, comprising BREEAM Excellent and LEED Gold assessments. Mohamed holds a Bachelor Degree in Architecture from the Lebanese American University and is a LEED Accredited Professional. Mohamed is a lecturer on various workshops with EcoConsulting, including the “Eco-Building & LEED Green Associate Training” series of seminars.
