In early 2014, our cofounders, Ryan and Perumal, were struggling new vegans frustrated by the lackluster experience of dairy alternatives.

Introduced by Isha Datar, the executive director of New Harvest, both bioengineers began to research what made milk so uniquely creamy and delicious—milk protein—and how to replicate the protein in an animal-free way.
