City Harvest is London's surplus food redistribution charity, delivering free nutritious food to 350+ organisations. The pandemic isolated already vulnerable people in need, and increased unemployment, driving up poverty figures. 1 in 4 people face food poverty in London, unable to access nutritious food for their families.
Every day our fleet of vans rescues surplus food from retailers, manufacturers, markets and events, resulting in the reduction of food waste and greenhouse gas emissions.
We currently deliver food for 10 million meals a year, that’s food for 30,000 meals a day! As pandemic emergency workers, City Harvest is on a mission to get all surplus food to those who need it most. We know the food is there, it is just a matter of clever logistics, and that’s what we specialise in.
