Tile and Grout

Grout is a hardwearing cement-based filling agent which is used to bind tiles to one another and the raw foundation of the floor beneath them. Unfortunately the same ‘high-flowing’ mixture which allows grout to be easily applied to the spaces between tiles also makes it rather porous – which causes the grout to gradually absorb both water and dirt, creating the perfect conditions for mold to flourish.

What can you do about it?

Though bleach and other chemicals may help to temporarily improve the appearance of your grout’s surface, the most effective solution by far is steam cleaning. A commercial-grade steam cleaner will penetrate beneath the grout’s surface to kill mold and clear away grime without damaging and stripping away layers (which inevitably occurs when grout is scrubbed).
