Retrofit Assessor Training

Retrofit Assessors and PAS 2035

Dwellings which require energy retrofit work will first need to be assessed by a Retrofit Assessor. These assessors play an important role in the PAS 2035 process as they collect and provide property data/information which Retrofit Coordinators can use to develop a relevant improvement plan.

Retrofit Assessors can use Reduced data Standard Assessment Procedure (RdSAP) to support their retrofit assessments alongside an appraisal of a property's condition and occupancy. From discussions with the client, and the information provided from the retrofit assessment, the Retrofit Assessor can determine which installation measures are suitable for the property and can feed this information back to other stakeholders involved within the PAS 2035 process.

Why become a Retrofit Assessor?

If you are accredited as a Domestic Energy Assessor (DEA) then the transition to Retrofit Assessor should be quite straightforward. This is because the activities provided within a retrofit assessment are similar to those which are already undertaken by trained and accredited DEAs. These include the production of:

an RdSAP Energy Report

a detailed floor plan

a condition report (a room by room report of the overall condition of the windows, walls and services etc)

an occupancy assessment (speaking directly with the home owner to determine how they use the property, and also what their fuel bills are).

DEAs already have extensive experience when it comes to undertaking property assessments of existing dwellings, which makes them ideally placed to become a Retrofit Assessor.
