Early life

The Katrin brand was one of the first professional tissue brands in Europe, having been introduced in 1974. The word “Katrin” originates from the Metsä Tissue Katrinefors mill, which was founded in 1765. The mill was named after the founder’s wife and is the origin of the brand and products that we know today.

A responsible forest industry group

Our Katrin brand products and solutions are produced by Metsä Tissue - a leading tissue and baking & cooking paper producer in Europe. Whether you are a consumer or professional buyer, Metsä Tissue serves you to improve your health, hygiene and wellbeing at home, work or leisure. In addition to our Katrin brand, our brands include Lambi, Mola, Serla, Tento and SAGA.

Metsä Tissue is part of Metsä Group, a Finnish forest industry organisation that operates in 30 international markets and with production facilities in seven different countries and about 9.300 employees, so we have a very strong and reliable background, to ensure stability and long lasting partnerships.

All Metsä Group’s business operations are committed to follow the international principles of sustainable development and require ethical working methods. We always consider the social, environmental and economic effects of our operations.

We cover the entire value chain for wood, including tissue and cooking papers, paperboard, pulp, wood products, and wood supply and forest services. Our strong wood and fibre expertise is concentrated in fields where we have a clear competitive advantage and a bright future. All of the wood raw material we use is fully traceable. Products made from renewable raw materials are in high demand, as competition for natural resources is tight.
