Alan is the founding director of Eco Design Consultants, forming the company in 2008. As director Alan is involved in every project in the office sharing his skills as a chartered Architect and certified European Passivhaus Designer. With a life-long commitment to social and environmental sustainability, Alan has led the Eco Design Consultants Team to design projects to both Passivhaus Classic, Plus and EnerPHit and the AECB standard. Previously he has led on innovative projects such as the Sigma Home, the country’s first 5 Star house under the Code for Sustainable homes. Alan acts as a consultant and lecturer to share his passion and knowledge of sustainability, passive design and future proofing. He has taught Architecture at Birmingham City University and the University of Moratuwa in Sri Lanka under the auspice of VSO and spoken at various conferences including the International Passivhaus conference.

John has worked on a variety of building types in his career with a focus on the delivery of quality residential homes, the linking factor is his enthusiasm for interrogating a client’s initial brief to deliver practical and workable design solutions. He has a particular interest in sourcing low tech robust solutions to improve both buildability and quality of the end product. Since joining the Eco Design team John has worked to obtain planning permission for a new Passivhaus in Cambridgeshire and the technical design of a retrofit project in Oxford which aims to reduce carbon emissions, on a limited carbon budget. He is currently working on a new paragraph 79 Passivhaus in Bedfordshire.

Donna’s management experience includes the voluntary, statutory and corporate sectors both in the UK and internationally. She is skilled in project management, communicating to a variety of audiences and balancing conflicting demands. She is responsible for day-to-day practice operation, including the integration of QA, health and safety, finance and HR. She also coordinates the ISO 9001: Quality Management and ISO:14001 Environmental Management accreditations for Eco Design Consultants.
